I have many pictures of Jon, but this is is a personal favorite. I really like it.

I have more medium format pictures coming. I'm really happy to be at it again. Fuji pro 400h is incredible.

Weekends

I went to a wedding in Ohio a couple weekends ago. Friends are already getting married and it must mean im getting old or something. It was a really fun wedding though, I was really glad to be a part of it.
These pictures are kinda pre-wedding from the drive there. These were shot on ektar 100 and that stuff is really amazing.

I have a ton of pictures of Jon. This one is definitely one of my favorites.

Oh yeah, this one's medium format. More on that soon.

First REAL bike ride of the spring.

It was a gorgeous day (like shorts outside good). Amazing light. Ridiculously fast bikes hoarded up from winter. We found a couple of new trails around the city, and decided that the best way to see a city is on a bike.

Yashica Memory Maker III

I found this ridiculous point and shoot film camera called the "memory maker 3' in a garage sale and I kept it around for a long time, shooting a few rolls here and there. I finally got around to developing the film (let me tell you, developing the film cost more than the bloody camera itself), and i'm pretty happy with the results.
I originally bought the camera because I wanted to shoot Terry Richardson-esque portraits of people (minus the debauchery) with its flash. I dont have a flash for any of my film cameras (or my dslr, not considering the dumb built in one) so this would have to do.

I hate working on dslr pictures on my super slow computer so ill be just posting more memory maker shots because film is awesome.

Taken around Pittsburgh during the fall, featuring my house mates.

Action Shot

Jon built himself this crazy bass pedal board out of some old organ pedals and keyboard. Its kind of genius really: he can play bass and guitar at the same time now. I wont try to go into to much detail on how he built it, but if you're interested here is Jon himself describing the process.

I got this action shot of him while he was practicing.

This one is an oldie but good(ie?). Jon explaining the subtleties of making grass whistles to Grace.

Jon and pat played an awesome house show a while back. I finally got around to filtering out the crap pictures and processing these.

It was pretty dark in there, and low light performance isn't really the XSi's (450D) forte.

Last of the Carrie Furnace set

I wanted to upload these before I forgot about them. These are some pictures I took with a Yashica-A at the abandoned carrie steel furnace.

The rest of the pictures from the furnace can be found here

These were shot on Kodak Ektar. While being a wonderful film with vibrant colors, it's kinda unforgiving if you dont get the exposure right. Makes pictures come out a little washed out looking.
That said I absolutely love medium format and I wish it wasnt such an expensive habit to get into.

We explored this abandoned steel mill a while ago and I'm finally getting round to posting pictures from the trip.
The place was this huge, sprawling industrial complex left to rust and die. It was awesome. I can only hope that the pictures I post will do the place justice.

It was like the world after the apocalypse.

Weekend

If no one trims this tree outside my house soon, i might go ahead and do it my self in the summer.

making a stop-motion movie

I prepared a small patch of soil outside my house to do a little planting when things get warmer. I already have some rosemary planted, and hopefully get some tomatoes and habanero pepper seeds into the soil in a few weeks.
Good weekend.

Year In Review 1

So while I was cleaning up my computer this weekend, I came across alot of pictures that I had failed to upload. When I get a film roll back, or download pictures from my memory card, i make a quick run through them and take out and duplicates or badly focused/plain bad shots. Then go ahead and clean up/process the pictures and upload them to flickr.
This workflow suites me well, but sometimes when I don't have time to edit a whole roll/batch, I keep some pictures for editing later. The problem is that I forget to come back to these pictures because ill either have new pictures to work with, or I don't want to upload a ton of pictures from a similar scene.
So, the end of the year seems like a fitting time to upload some of the pictures that didn't get uploaded out of sheer neglect.

The pictures below are from the summer, when Jon and I explored CMU. To see the others from the set, click the tag "CMU" below, genius.

Birthday films

Jon has been getting into film lately and these shots are from his new project. Im not going to give anything away except it's about Jeff's (blue track jacket) birthday, and a little story about people surprising him with a cake.

It is actually Jeff's birthday today, happy birthday Jeff. Hope you liked your cake.
